The newsletter is free and open to everyone. Paid membership supports the work. Because the records are separate, you can use one email for delivery and another for membership receipts, although using the same address is usually simpler.

I can usually help switch an existing membership to another available monthly or annual option. Tell me the email address on the membership and the exact plan you want. I’ll confirm the requested change before making it.

Start at https://whatthefuckjusthappenedtoday.com/membership/. If the listed options do not match the amount or interval you want, tell me the exact monthly, annual, or one-time amount and the email address on your account. I may be able to configure it manually after confirming the change.

Your paid membership and free newsletter subscription are separate. You can disable renewal or cancel financial support and continue receiving the newsletter. You can re-enable support later if you choose.

If the recurring donation is in Donorbox, use the Donor Portal to pause and later resume it. For WTFJHT membership, Patreon, or PayPal, use the available billing controls; if there is no pause option, cancel future renewal and rejoin when ready. Canceling does not remove access to the public site.

Read WTFJHT at https://whatthefuckjusthappenedtoday.com/. There is no member-only paywall required to access the publication. Use the membership account only to manage billing, payment details, or recurring support.

A payment receipt confirms financial support, not necessarily enrollment in the newsletter. If you paid but are not receiving editions, subscribe separately at https://whatthefuckjusthappenedtoday.com/ and complete any confirmation email. I can also check both records if you send the membership and delivery email addresses.

Anyone can subscribe to and read WTFJHT for free. Paid memberships and one-time contributions support the work and help keep it available to everyone, but payment is not required to receive the newsletter.

First identify the statement descriptor and the email used on that platform. Patreon pledges must be managed through Patreon, PayPal recurring payments through PayPal, and older Donorbox arrangements through their account flow. Send the platform, charge date and amount, and all possible emails if you cannot locate it.

Enter the email address tied to the membership at https://membership.whatthefuckjusthappenedtoday.com/auth/sign_in and follow the emailed link. If the charge descriptor says Patreon, PayPal, or another legacy service, manage it through that platform instead. Unsubscribing from the free newsletter does not cancel financial support.

Patreon controls its own billing. To update a payment method, use Patreon's Payment Methods settings. To cancel, open Settings, then Memberships, view the WTFJHT membership details, and follow the cancellation prompts. If Patreon used an Apple private-relay address, the account email may not match your usual address.

Use the account-management link in a membership receipt or sign in at https://membership.whatthefuckjusthappenedtoday.com/auth/sign_in to cancel recurring support. If the charge is from Patreon, PayPal, or another legacy platform, it must be canceled through that platform instead.

WTFJHT membership is best understood as reader support and participation in sustaining the publication, not a purchase of gated content. There are no separate login-only articles implied by the term, and joining does not automatically subscribe someone to the newsletter.

Sign in with the email address used when you joined. From the account page you can review the membership and available billing controls. If no account appears, try other addresses you may have used or contact support with the charge details. Legacy Patreon, Donorbox, and PayPal support must be managed on those platforms.

Send me the address currently receiving WTFJHT and the new address you want to use. If you are also a paying member, tell me whether you want the membership account changed too—the newsletter and paid membership records may be separate.

If you know the platform, use its account page to manage the payment. If you are unsure, reply with the email address or addresses you may have used, the charge date and amount, and the exact statement description. It is safe to include the last four digits of the card, but never send a full card number, expiration date, or security code.

Use https://membership.whatthefuckjusthappenedtoday.com/auth/sign_in and enter the email address associated with your paid membership. Follow the sign-in link sent to that address. If nothing arrives, check spam and confirm which email is actually on the account.

Accounts are often under an old address, a work address, an Apple private-relay address, or a typo. Send the possible addresses and enough non-sensitive charge information to locate the account. You may include the card's last four digits. Never email the full card number, expiration date, password, or security code.

Send every address you may have used, including old work or school accounts and Apple Hide My Email/private-relay addresses. The newsletter-delivery address may be different from the billing account. I can then identify the correct account and help consolidate or update it.

Sign-in links can be delayed, filtered, blocked by a mail provider, or sent to a different address than expected. Request a new link at https://membership.whatthefuckjusthappenedtoday.com/auth/sign_in and check all likely inboxes. If it still does not arrive, contact support with possible account addresses; do not send a password.

For current WTFJHT memberships, check the membership account and receipt emails. Patreon provides billing history, Donorbox provides receipts in its Donor Portal, and PayPal records payments in Activity. If you cannot find it, send the payment date, amount, platform or statement description, and account email.

Payment processors deduct fees from contributions. You do not need to calculate or reimburse those fees. Choose the amount that is comfortable for you. This answer should be revisited if WTFJHT's published policy changes.

Donorbox's Donor Portal can update an amount or payment method and can pause, resume, or cancel a recurring plan. If the Donorbox donation was paid through PayPal, manage the recurring payment in PayPal instead.

PayPal controls PayPal automatic payments. From the merchant entry you can cancel the automatic payment or change the preferred payment method when PayPal offers that option. Canceling a newsletter does not cancel a PayPal payment.

Enter the email address associated with the membership at https://membership.whatthefuckjusthappenedtoday.com/auth/sign_in and follow the emailed link. Inside the account, remove the old card and add the new one. If the account cannot be found, send every email address you may have used.

Send a screenshot with sensitive information hidden, or list each charge's date, amount, status, and statement description. Also send possible account emails and the last four digits if useful. Do not send the full card number. If both charges are settled, support can check for duplicate accounts or payments.

Send the receipt or account email and confirm that you want renewal disabled. I’ll verify the plan and turn off auto-renewal where possible. This does not affect your free newsletter subscription.

The safest confirmation is the card summary inside your membership account. If a renewal already succeeded, no further action may be necessary. Do not send the full card number or security code.

Please send the amount and date of the charge, the name on the payment, and every email address you may have used. Memberships and newsletter subscriptions can be under different addresses, and even a typo can make the record difficult to locate.

WTFJHT is an independent business, not a nonprofit organization. Membership payments, tips, and other contributions should not be treated as tax-deductible charitable donations.

Some card issuers automatically update recurring merchants, so check the last four digits first if you are unsure whether the change already propagated.

I cannot securely receive or manually enter full credit-card information from an email. Use https://membership.whatthefuckjusthappenedtoday.com/auth/sign_in to update the payment method in your account. If login fails, send only the account email, charge date and amount, and at most the card’s last four digits.

A failed attempt does not always mean the membership is permanently canceled. The processor may retry the charge several times. Update the payment method through your account, wait for a success or receipt message, and avoid opening a second membership unless the original account has been identified.

Send the amount and date of each charge, the name on the card, and every email address you may have used—including Apple Hide My Email or another private-relay address. I’ll compare the accounts and identify which recurring membership needs to be canceled or corrected.

Sign in to the platform that processed the payment and turn off future renewal if desired. Canceling renewal prevents the next charge but does not automatically reverse the current one. If the original intent was unclear, contact support with the charge date, amount, platform, and account email for review.

To stop future charges, cancel the recurring membership or automatic payment on the platform that manages it. If you cannot identify the platform, send the charge date, amount, statement description, possible account emails, and optionally the last four digits—never the full card details.

The newsletter is generally a weekday publication rather than a seven-day schedule. Holidays, planned breaks, or unusually light news days may affect publication. If you think you missed an edition, check the website archive before troubleshooting delivery.

There’s an unsubscribe link in every newsletter. Click it and follow the confirmation steps. If that does not work, reply with the exact email address receiving the newsletter and I can help track it down.

The edition covers what happened that day, so it is sent later in the day rather than in the morning. The exact time can vary with the news and production schedule.

You may still be subscribed even when the newsletter is being filtered. Search your entire mailbox for [email protected], then check spam, promotions, and any rules or filters. Also tell me every email address you may have used so I can check the correct subscription.

The goal is a concise, sourced account of what happened—not an unsupported opinion column. Each item links to underlying reporting, often from multiple outlets, so readers can follow the evidence and read further. If you believe a specific sentence is wrong, send the edition date, the sentence, and the source you think contradicts it.

Specificity makes corrections faster. Please identify the edition, quote the relevant wording, explain the suspected error, and include a primary or authoritative source when possible. I’ll review the underlying reporting and correct the record when warranted.
